You Scratch my back I'll scratch yours.

In past 25 years a set on economic policies referred to as "Neoliberalism" have spread around nations making the wealthy wealthier and poor even more poor. Neoliberalism is a mechanism for investments and global trading. It was originated in the 1960s but not until the 1980s was it that neoliberalism gained prominence. Its origins come from classical liberalism but it has a greater focus on economic growth and free markets.

In the 1980s Latin American countries had a rough time paying off the debt they owe to other countries, because of the high oil prices and the money they borrowed from other countries.

Leons second Road sign

The sign was really fun lots of work went into making it. But carving all the words in a specific way to get the proper shape was hard. Also trying to put the right amount of paint so it wont bleed through. But the overall road sign was a success.

Mario Ochoa Road Sign

I really like to work on this project, it was fun. because I gat to chose what sign to do, and create it.

Adan Barragan-Road sighn- welcome to narnia

the sign was very fun to create because it gave me a chance to take something so typical and create something funny and fun. I really enjoyed doing this project.

CORONA,JOSE ROADSIGN!!

I chose to do my road sign on women because my cousins got run over.  I chose the yield sign because it means to drive cautiously around the area. The three girls represent to watch out for girls along the road and neighborhood. I had fun doing this because I had a good reason behind it. I used the black paint to make a boarder and with the yellow background to make my center picture stand out. I had fun doing this and I would say that it is the best activity that we have done for the whole entire year.

Oliver Velazquez

I created my road sign by combining two things that have come out a lot in my life Road Life and Religion so I just decided to combine the two into one. ( Yeah the line is just an accident don't pay attention to it)

Road Sign- Roberto Gomez- Sniper Sign

For the mock sign activity I thought the sniper scope thing would be a great idea because the gun culture in our nation is rapidly growing and there are controversies amid with firearms. So then I thought of making it more original so I made the sign black instead of the more traditional yellow.

Miguel Gonzalez - Road Sign - "Your Pants Are Falling!"

I really enjoyed creating this road sign. I have to say that this is the most fun I've had the whole year because I thought it was funny to alter a road sign like this. Creating stencils is always fun for me because I love using the X-acto knife. I also liked using the paint to paste the stencil onto the board. All in all, this was the funest activity I've done the whole year and I like how it resulted. Buckle up!

Joanna Lopez- Road Sign- "Never End Roadwork"

I really enjoyed doing this project because it was something that I thought was going to be fun to do.
My road sign is mocking a construction sign that actually says "End Roadwork"I just added NEVER.
I did this so that when someone reads the sign it will catch their attention right away, someone who is driving to work or somewhere important will definitely pay more attention to the sign and maybe panic.

Francisca Gutierrez - Road Sign - "Don't Stop"

I enjoyed working on this artwork. Creating a stencil was fun and a new experience for me. It was hard thinking of how to alter the sign but once I got it, it was a lot of fun.

A speed Limit sign very simple to do and less time i spend on it.

MOCK ROAD SIGNS

MOCK ROAD SIGNS

GUERRILLA students were inspired by street artists from around the world that alter road signs. Many artists create their own mock signs and install them in the street. Often, these altered signs are meant to be humorous. Although, sometimes a serious message is conveyed on the altered sign.  Of course, actually altering a street sign is illegal. We chose to create mock road signs. Students used the style of a sign (type set, silhouette image, composition, etc) to create a funny version.

Students used stencils to create their text, images, and borders. Stenciling onto illustration boards, they tried to use the spirit of the road sign (to give direction) while expressing a message that is a little more fun.

Here are some examples that we were inspired by:

Leons Nature Sticker

My sticker is perfect for this type of art piece. Soldiers all working together to help produce a flower. The theme word is grow which is the word i chose to sum up the sticker as a whole to inspire others to get involved with going green and help grow plants to give back to nature.

Niya Weathers_ Sticker Art distribution

She loved the sticker image I gave her, hopefully she keeps it for years to come!!

Alexis Gutierrez - Postcards - Zombie Apocalypse

First and foremost, I am deeply sorry for losing this postcard while trying to finish it at home. My topic of this postcard was trying to something with the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE idea, but unfortunately I don't have an image to show you guys my piece of art. I will try to use description to try to make you visualize my concept. For this piece of art, I first had a background with a ton of zombies overwhelming it, but one specific zombie was enlarged. I then painted the word "zomie" in the center of the background, purposely misspelling it  because the enlarged zombie ate the letter "B" in the word zombie. That was a basic description of my concept, and sorry again for not having an image to share with you guys.

Maribel Abraham - Sticker Art - Nature

My Theme was about nature and I liked how I used the background and turned it into a new scene that worked really well with my image. I really enjoyed doing this piece and it was a chance for me to be creative. I'm really pleased to see that in the end my image worked really good with my theme.

Miguel Gonzalez - Sticker Art - "SKY"

This project was a good way of expressing my love for nature. It is also a sticker of beauty. Now I have the chance to distribute this sticker with someone else so that they can know how I feel about nature and how much I love it.

Francisco Ortega "Forest"

My sticker was about the forest on a dark night. when i was making the sticker i was thinking about the forest and also was thinking about what should i draw so i draw tall trees and two clouds . i didn't have any more ideas what to draw. my art sticker was just plain and simple.

Steve Roman_Sticker Art_ Power

This project was a good way to express our feelings with how we view life in general. I was able to experience how our world really is that's it really beautiful. We are destroying our own world with all this other type of new equipment.

Carina Torres Sticker-Beauty

This project was a way to express the way my I see my life. In my point of view this is a way to show the things I like, the way I sometimes my mind spaces out and I just get little things going on. In another point of view as you can see it was a good way to express the way that im never sad, with all those colors its a sing of  my happiness.

Jesus Zepeda - Sticker Art - "LIGHT"

At the beginning of this project I had no idea what color scheme to use and I really disliked the water color scheme I used. The following day I decided to use Deco Markers and mix contrasting colors and I love the chaos and the nature in the sticker. I feel proud of this piece.

Mario Ochoa "The World"

when i was doing my sticker i was thinking about the world and anything that came in my mind ill draw it in my sticker .

Sticker--Alejandro Saucedo--Home

When I was making this sticker i kind of felt connected to the soldier in my sticker. I could feel the emotions of going home after a long fought war. I could feel the emotions of finally going to see your family and the flashbacks a soldier gets once he returns home. I could also feel the enjoyment of seeing a ferris wheel for the first time since a long fought war.

Greg Rojas - Sticker Art - "Horizons"

My art work means a lot to me. I see it as the way i think about my life sometimes. My art piece represents my mind exploring different horizons. I combined a couple different spider images and created a spider web representing my mind, and the spider being me. im very proud of my work. I liked using different colors and other materials

Alexis Gutierrez-Sticker Art-Calm

When I was making this piece, I really liked the background and the different shades of color that complimented each other. I tried to make this piece resemble weather disasters that hit us unexpectedly. The yellow "wave" is gonna hit the invisible women that is relaxing on her red couch reading s novel. Nature sometimes hits us by surprise, and can cause a ton of damage to urban areas. You have to let nature do its thing cause its inevitable that it's going to cause some damage, so keep calm and be safe as possible.

Lynale Kimble

The printing process of this piece of work was difficult. Trying to get the right amount of ink not to much or to little. then trying to carve the Lino blocks was also difficult trying not to stab yourself and trying not to go through the block and getting the correct texture. Be the end result was a nice piece of art work

Cheyenne Watkins - Sticker Art - "Mayhem"

I enjoyed this project a lot. I was allowed the freedom to make this piece of art what I wanted to make it. My art piece is just crazy and has really odd images piled together and because of that I called it "Mayhem"

Niya Weathers-Sticker Art-Growth

When doing this project i decided to actually use the image but enhance the colors to make them a little brighter then it originally was. This project was the best to me because it gave us a chance to use each technique that we have learned within the art.

Francisca Gutierrez - Sticker Art - Nature

I enjoyed working on this artwork because it was about nature and I was able to be very creative. We did tape transfers and it was a new and fun experience for me.

Joanna Lopez- Sticker Art- Garden

I enjoyed doing this project because it was bringing out a message of nature. The theme was "beautification through art or nature" and I really like nature so I was happy with this sticker art.
It took me a while to think about what my sticker was going to be about, so it didn't turn out to be that creative but I think that I did a pretty good job. It really wasn't that hard of a project to do.

Jose Corona-    STICKER ART.

I found this sticker to be pretty cool. I think that it was a fun activity where we learned about nature and had a fun way to express our view on it. My picture shows the forest and kirby. I put the monkey because wild animals are a part of nature and i think they are really important because some of them are going extinct. Kirby is in there because he takes form of elements in nature such as water, fire, and air.
My favorite part of this project was finding the pictures to put in my sticker because when i found kirby i was really excited.

Adan Barragan - Sticker - Replace

This was one of my most favorite projects in this class. I really liked this project because it allowed me to be very creative, by setting up a piece of art about such a broad topic such as the environment. And having that topic opened a lot of options for what I was going to create. While thinking about what i was going to do I decided to make it into a type of clean up the world art. That's why I included the junkyard and the nice tree, separated by the word replace. The message is to plant more trees and get rid of garbage.

Sydney Gresham-Sticker Art- "Save the Earth"

I enjoyed this particular assignment because I was able to use all of the techniques we learned in class throughout the entire school year. I was able to transfer the bar code, collage, and work back into my artwork by drawing. I love the final look of my sticker!
