Microworld artists create miniature site-specific installations that tell a story. They may be humorous, or have a message. At any rate, they are a strange and fun way to use miniature toys to interact with the setting in order to convey an expression.

Our student-guerrilla artists had a great time exploring the construction of micro-installations indoors and creating improvisational narratives to go with them. 

It was interesting when we went out on a blustery, cold day to set up installations in our school courtyard. Student artists worked in groups. The new site helped dictate the setting and affected the story. Each group got to debrief with the rest of the class for feedback.

'Zines Out in the World

'Zine News

Guerrilla 'Zines have been distributed. One copy of each has gone on a 'Zine exchange with Hazelwood West High School in St. Charles, MO. The art students of Carla Tuetken have also made 'Zines and have sent us copies in return.

The other set of our 'Zines are at Quimby's Bookstore (as previously posted) and free to any of you that walks in!

This is suppose to make people see how we need to change the school due to how the students view it. The images on the zine are suppose to show the before and after effects of how the school should be remodeled.

This artwork describes what the longer school day brings to students of Chicago. Although students will be more tired in class and frustrated, Chicago has the lowest time in the classroom compared to other major cities. More class time will benefit students whether they like the idea or not. More time in the classroom means more learning and maybe higher test scores. Chicago is one of the lowest preforming school districts in the nation and also has the least amount of time in the classroom. This page in the zine shows that link and provides the idea that maybe more class time with benefit students in the long run.
